Zend Certified Engineer

April 13th, 2007 3 Comments

Zend Certified Engineer Last week I took the Zend PHP5 certification test. The questions on the test were not really hard, they were tricky. The great thing about PHP in general is that there are so many great resources to find something out really quickly. Also the problems could be easily solved by just running the script and seeing the output. You get 90 minutes to answer 70 questions. If you are studying for the tests you don’t need to worry about time, I finished the test in under 30 minutes. Here is a link to my official certification page. The Zend site for the Engineers sucks, so don’t expect too much.

Lasty just a few updates:
Drew found a fix for the stupid OS X terminal problem. Turns out if you have a corrupt font as your font in terminal OS X can’t have the screen size bigger than the close button. Maybe spend a few more minutes to get the basics down rather than having things look so pretty okay apple?
I moved to Irvine.

Bruce Clay

It amazes me that Bruce clay is such a big player in the SEO Biz and their site looks like crap and has flash on it. Granted they have a billion words on each page. I would still expect that they would focus to some extent on layout as well. Stuff is all over the place in ff and just looks plain bad in opera. Not surprisingly it looks decent in lynx though (other than the lack of a menu due to the flash)

Stupid OS X Terminal

Stupid OS X Terminal Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? This is Panther’s OS X Terminal that got resized so small that it can’t be resized at all anymore. I’ve tried applescripts to resize the window but no luck. Egh I hate Apple right now.

XGL (Beryl) on Kubuntu Edgy Eft

November 29th, 2006 No Comments

I Finally got XGL ala Beryl installed on my home PC. It runs on Ubuntu with KDE (kubuntu) and it is running with Twinview. It is really awesome with all of the wobbly windows and rotating cube. I have a quick screencast below for you to see. The screencast tool that I used (ffmpeg) doesn’t like to capture video larger than 1280x1024 so this is just the left monitor, but you get the idea. Just imagine that there is another monitor to the right of all of this. Here is a link to the actual avi in mpeg4 format

Enjoy!!

Skydiving

To those of you who don’t know, Annie and I went skydiving in Kauai. Luckily the company filmed it so I put it on youtube so you can look at it. I suck at editing videos so it is kind of long, but you can still watch it, it was a gorgeous day so it may be worth it.

Me, as Sloth I had way too much fun with the scanner as I was scanning some pictures for Annie’s class. Anywho there is the result. It is pretty creepy if you ask me.

Wedding

If you noticed I added a countdown to the wedding. It should be correct to just about the second because the wedding is supposed to start at 5:30 on August 19 2006. I will post tons of pictures and all that jazz after we get back from our honeymoon in glorious Kauai.

Flock

I told my buddy Drew this weekend that he should try Flock which is based on the FireFox browser. I have been using it at work some and it is freaking awesome. It allows me to actually add blog posts from the server, do all kinds of cool bookmark and xml feeds and stuff. Anyways it kicks ass and you all should use it.

Also a while back I saw a really cool virtual desktop manager for powerbooks on Digg and couldnt find it for a while. I found it today and figured I’d put it here for you all to see it, it’s the Slapbook!
